The guitar masterclass of the Uzmah-Hvar Winter Seminar in Zagreb, led by Ante Čagalj, is taking place from January 19th-30th at the Elly Bašić Music School in Zagreb.

Two ensembles of Ante Čagalj’s students from the Elly Bašić Music School won awards at the Croatian Chamber Music Competition, organized by the Croatian Music and Dance Teachers’ Association, that took place in Zadar yesterday.
Marko Ferlan and Mak Grgić have won the first prize in the duo category, and the Elly Guitar Quartet (Grgić, Ferlan, Ivan Petričević and Josip Grgurević) has won the second prize among the quartets.

A. Cagaly, who arranged Fuga y misterio by Astor Piazzolla for four guitars (which was recorded by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet on their “Latin” CD and is regularly performed at their concerts) is no other than our own Ante Čagalj. Is it so difficult to spell a Croatian name in the correct way?
