“One of the most exciting and vivid experiences including the guitar I can remember”
Colin Cooper, Classical Guitar Magazine, UK
This exciting ensemble of young musicians - Tomislav Vasilj, Krunoslav Pehar, Melita Ivković and Mak Grgić - have given performances from Canada to India, from Russia to South Africa; premiered 12 new works by contemporary Croatian composers and given a world premiere of Johann Sebastian Bach’s The Art of the Fugue arranged for four guitars. Their newest recording of Baroque music will appear in 2009.
The Quartet has mastered a huge repertoire ranging from Rennaisance and Baroque all the way into jazz and world music. The most unique flavour of the Quartet’s repertoire is their exploration of Mediterranean roots of Croatia with its distinguished folklore, along with the flamenco tradition of guitar as well as other Mediterranean cultures, including the almost forgotten music of Sephardic Jews from Bosnia - all brought in original and exciting arrangements for four guitars.
In 2005 the Zagreb Guitar Quartet has released the CD Da fuga a milonga. It has been broadcasted on radio stations throughout the world, including BBC Radio 3 and Vatican Radio.

“For more than few years I haven’t heard something so exciting - after their performance, all that one could do was to get out and shout: Viva guitarra!”
Zbigniew Dubiella, Swiat Gitary, Poland
